In many countries, two peaks of seasonal tick activity in spring and fall are observed. The incidence of clinical cases of TBE lags about four weeks behind the seasonal tick activity. In some countries including Poland, Baden-Wuerttemberg (Germany), Sweden, the Czech Republic and recently also in Austria just one peak of TBE incidence (July/August) has been observed.
